Straightening teeth can improve function and appearance, but many individuals prefer to avoid traditional metal braces. At Dr Patrick J. Meaney & Associates, we offer Invisalign clear aligners, designed to gradually move teeth into alignment. Invisalign uses a series of custom-moulded, clear plastic aligners that fit over the teeth.
Similar to conventional braces, these aligners work by applying controlled pressure to shift teeth into their desired position over time. Unlike metal braces, Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing for easier eating, brushing and flossing.
At the beginning of the Invisalign process, Dr Ahmed Elkhatib will create a digital treatment plan, showing a step-by-step model of how teeth will shift throughout the process. This allows patients to see projected changes at each stage before starting treatment.
Invisalign treatment is tailored to individual needs. A consultation can help determine whether clear aligners are a suitable option based on tooth alignment and overall dental health. Call

Many adults choose Invisalign as an alternative to braces due to its subtle appearance. Whether teeth have shifted over time or orthodontic treatment was not an option earlier in life, clear aligners provide a way to straighten teeth without noticeable brackets or wires. Invisalign is often chosen by professionals and individuals who prefer a discreet orthodontic solution.
Invisalign is also available for teenagers, offering an option that blends with their lifestyle. Invisalign Teen includes a blue compliance indicator on the aligners to help track wear time, providing reassurance for parents that the aligners are being used as directed.

While Invisalign and traditional braces are used for orthodontic treatment, there are some key differences:
The length of treatment varies based on individual cases. Most people wear Invisalign aligners for 6-18 months, depending on the complexity of tooth movement needed.
Aligners should be worn at least 22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except water), brushing and flossing. Inconsistent wear can slow down progress and extend treatment time.
Aligners should be cleaned daily using a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Special Invisalign cleaning crystals or denture cleaners can also be used. Avoid hot water, as it can warp the aligners.
